This past weekend, short-term wholesale market prices dipped below zero on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
Last weekend's sunny and decidedly windy weather, combined with low power consumption, caused short-term wholesale prices to dip below zero on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday afternoon we saw a price of minus 65 EUR. On Sunday the price even briefly dropped to minus EUR 100 per megawatt hour.
At present, this means in practice that large companies are paid to purchase electricity. Until now, an ordinary consumer could not benefit from this.
This will change in the near future. If you have an AlphaESS home battery and a dynamic energy contract, you will be able to take advantage of fluctuating market prices automatically using the Jabba platform.
